When what to our wondering eyes should appear, not 1 but 3 snowplows to help get us through the snow!

THE BIG NEWS

This is the new and biggest news… We will be collecting toys at Bridgeport Sound Tigers games Friday night (12/19/08), Saturday night (12/20/08) and Sunday afternoon (12/21/08, we start at 3:00 PM, the game starts at 4:00 PM).

Sunday is the “teddy toss”. At the first goal by the Tigers everyone in the audience who has a plush toy (teddy) throws it on the ice. Crazy but fun…Tigers’ employees go out on the ice and collect the teddies. They will be dried (they get wet on the ice) and bagged for us ready to go Monday morning.

We will have volunteers standing at barrels to collect non-plush toys from people coming into the game. The stadium opens up at 6:00PM for the evening games so that is when we will be ready to go outside.

Our CCC truck will be parked near the entrance and the toys loaded. The truck will remain onsite for the three evenings and then we will take all the toys on Monday and deliver them. We already have places to receive all the toys we collect so no worries on that score. The plush toys - we will take up to 600 of those and anything over that the Tigers are going to distribute to children in local area hospitals. If after that they have any leftovers, the leftovers will come to us for our placement packs, etc.

Any children’s groups we deliver to, the Tigers have asked if they can help with delivery and have their mascot hand out the toys. Extra fun!

We will have two employees inside the arena distributing information about CCC and offering our pins and bookmarks, great holiday gift items! The toys collected these three games will go directly to children with no stops or unloading of the truck in-between.
