I would like to introduce myself to everyone as the new Eastern Regional Coordinator for the Adopt a Social Worker Program (AASW). My name is Alvin Falconer. I am from Hartford, CT. I received my Associate’s Degree in Sociology from Capital Community College located in Hartford. I am going on to receive my Bachelor in Social Work. I have been in the human service field for several years. My degree gave me an opportunity to incorporate my knowledge of sociology to various aspects of my life. Prior to starting at Covenant to Care for Children (CCC), I worked for Avis Rent a Car at Bradley Airport for three years as a service agent. As a service agent, my position entailed providing information on rental procedures, and helping customers with car selections. So making this transition from a service agent to a Regional Coordinator is totally different in my perspective, but easy because I love the challenge!!! I view challenges as opportunities. I am a fast learner and I long to see others get the help they need to succeed in life. I have exceptional organizational skills, customer service skills and superior time management skills. In my past, I have participated in various community services and been a great asset throughout my community and local church. I love helping children in need and ensuring that their needs are met. . I am blessed to be a part of CCC because this organization has many programs that meet the needs of many children in the state of Connecticut. The AASW program especially offers many churches within Connecticut to become involved in community outreach. We could not supply the needs of Connecticut’s children without the involvement and commitment of faith communities and their liaisons. I deeply appreciate the opportunity to work along side the liaisons of the faith communities and Department of Children and Families (DCF) office liaisons to help Connecticut’s children in need. In conclusion, I am pleased to be a Regional Coordinator in the AASW program. My plans are to better my community and those around it. I believe with a positive mind and a spiritual heart you can accomplish anything that is presented to you. The basic things I have to offer to Covenant to Care for Children are: my dedication to the children, my loyalty to this organization, and my ability to take care of business. If you have any questions or concern, please feel free to contact me at (860) 243-1806 or by email at afalconer@covenanttocare.org. I am here to make sure the relationship with your adopted social worker continues to be successful.
