Charlie Delivers the Critical Goods Donations for Children

Critical Goods is our response to the needs of families who are at-risk of losing their children, or who are being reunified with their children and must have certain material goods before that can happen: beds, cribs, and household items.

We assist children and youth in their development and growth by helping them overcome the challenges of poverty and emotional distress. Donations of emergency and non-emergency goods are collected and delivered to families in an effort to foster safe and nurturing home environments for the children.

  • We will accept in-kind donations of goods that will serve to augment our AASW Program. These goods will fulfill those requests for clothing, furniture, games, and books that CCC programs cannot otherwise fulfill.
  • Our intent is to have all requests for beds filled within 30 days of receipt of request.
  • CCC retains the distinction of delivering the goods provided from this program directly to the clients either through our delivery system or through the Social Worker.

How Does the Program Collect Goods?

The Critical Goods Delivery Program facilitates outreach volunteer efforts by helping them donate baby goods, high quality new and used furniture, toys and clothing from both individuals and corporate donors.  By appointment, the Critical Goods Coordinator picks up furniture and other goods with our agency vehicle from donor homes and businesses by appointment.  Donated goods may also be dropped off at the Covenant to Care for Children office in Bloomfield, Monday through Friday. It is always best to call first.

* Policies regarding Cribs:

By law, Covenant to Care for Children cannot purchase "drop-side" cribs, nor do we accept these types of cribs as donations. We cannot pass along these cribs to other children due to safety issues, and as a result do not accept them as donations. If the crib is part of a larger donation, we will offer to take the crib and dispose of it for the donor.

How do I help the program?

If you would like to make donations for children to Covenant to Care for Children's Critical Goods Program, please call:

(860) 243-1806 x17
Monday - Friday between 8:30 AM - 4 PM

If you plan to bring the donations to our office, please call first to assure that someone will be available to assist you.

If you would like to have your donation picked up, our Critical Goods Coordinator will be happy to schedule the pick-up.

Furniture should be in presentable condition (not stained, ripped, broken, or covered with animal fur).

There can be as much as a two-week wait from the date of your call until the pickup occurs due to limited resources. Be sure you can hold items for that period, if needed.

We request that you consider making a cash donation at the same time as your in-kind donation to Covenant to Care for Children to help defray the cost of running this program. All donations will be given a receipt for your income tax purposes (excepting donations left in off hours without contact information).

You may volunteer your time to this program to help with deliveries by following this link: VOLUNTEER
