Mentoring Program Coordinator        

Full-time Mentoring Project Coordinator working with faith-based and community organizations to provide mentoring services to at-risk youth and over seeing existing matches. Position requires the ability to work collaboratively with diverse faith-based organizations and individuals. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in social work, human services desired. BBBS and/or Amachi Certification highly desirable. Evening and weekend hours, flexible scheduling. Car required. Our agency has offices in Bloomfield and Waterbury. Job Description

Job Title: Mentoring Program Coordinator

Reports: Executive Director

Supervises: Program Volunteers, Mentors and Mentees

 
Basic Objective

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the on-going management of the mentoring program.  The mission of the program is to provide safe and appropriate mentors for children through faith and community organizations. 

Essential Functions:

Program Management

Responsible for continuous evaluation of program effectiveness; provides input to mentors as to any changes or ideas to enhance effectiveness or ensure program goals are met. Conducts monthly case reviews, examining mentee records and assisting with the creation of strategies for support and assistance.  Maintains program manual detailing structure, policy and procedures. Annually, reviews manual and proposes needed updates.

Operations

Serves as a resource to assist faith and community organizations in starting and administering a mentoring program within their organizations. Provides training and on-going guidance on all aspects of the program. Shares program documentation (manual) with participating organizations.

Activity Recordkeeping

Uses established procedures to track activities of the program. 

Outreach

Educates local faith and community groups of the existence and benefits of the program. Encourages groups to establish the program within their organization, if appropriate. Represents agency in regional/statewide meetings focused on mentoring. Provides general educational resources to faith and community groups on topics of child welfare, abuse, neglect, foster care, adoption. Guides them to appropriate state resources.

Internal Activities. As requested, participate in and attend agency events such as fundraisers, volunteer recognition, annual conference etc. Writes articles for newsletters and website as assigned.

Special projects or other tasks as assigned.
