Roderick Davis My name is Rick Davis. I am the new program coordinator for the My Mentor and Me (M3) program for the greater New Haven and Bridgeport areas. I am extremely excited about the opportunity to work for and with Covenant to Care for Children to fulfill its mission of mobilizing and channeling the generosity of caring and faithful people to advocate for, mentor and provide direct assistance to Connecticut’s children and youth who are neglected, abused or at-risk. I personally understand the power of mentoring and the positive results it breeds in a child and ultimately society as a whole. Being a young child growing up in a single parent home, my brother and I greatly benefited from caring individuals who took the time to support and provide us guidance while Mom was working. Mr. Corto a high school football coach saw something positive in me at a time when I did not have an adult male role model. He helped me develop my dreams, while assisting me to figure out a plan to achieve those dreams. With his help, guidance, and continued support over the seven years, I became a better student, athlete and all around person. It is my pleasure to advocate on behalf of children in similar situations, and provide the necessary tools that will allow them to be successful in their own lives. My professional background consists of working with the disabled and elderly community, providing support and advocacy on their behalf. It gives me great encouragement, pleasure and motivation to assist individuals, especially children and young adults, in need. Covenant to Care for Children is the perfect place where I can continue to impact the lives of society’s most precious gifts, our children. I look forward to my duties at Covenant to Care for Children and also continuing the wonderful tradition of service this organization has provided for the past 20 years.
