About our Committees. . .

Covenant to Care for Children relies on its volunteer board and committee members to perform a variety of activities on behalf of the agency and in service to the children who depend on us.

There are three committees of the Board of Directors of Covenant to Care for Children, and one subcommittee. You do not need to be a member of the board to serve on a committee. These committees are:

Board Development and Planning - this committee recruits new board and committee members, provides orientation and initial and on-going training as well as on-going support to new members. The responsibility for Strategic Planning and oversight of Annual Planning falls to this committee as well.

Finance, Administration and Operations (FAO)- this committee is responsible for the physical space needs and surroundings of the Covenant to Care for Children's main office and satellite offices. It also provides expertise, networking and advisement regarding human resources and personnel issues, finance and budgeting, technology and equipment, and agency management. This committee annually reviews the Personnel Policies and updates and revises them.

Investments Sub-Committee of the FAO Committee - meeting quarterly, this committee is responsible for recommending investment options, decisions, and policy to the FAO committee. Regular activities involve reviewing fund balances, current investment earnings, donated stocks and bonds or other financial resources and examining returns. This committee also reviews the investment policy yearly and makes recommendations for updates and revisions.

Fund Development and Public Relations - recommends fundraising activities to the board, and plans and executes fundraising and fund development activities. In addition, it oversees the grant process, guides the board on securing in-kind donated services such as printing, plans and executes events and holds the board accountable for the tasks related to raising nearly $300,000 per year. The committee is also responsible for the public image and publicity for Covenant to Care for Children through its materials, public service announcements and event publicity.

All committees meet once per month for 1 to 1.5 hours, usual at the CCC Bloomfield office. There is an application and three references required for both board and committee service. To inquire further about becoming a board or committee member, email your resume and indicate your interest to: Caryl Hallberg,
Executive Director at (860)-243-1806.
